Knightly News - November, 1999

Dear Brother Knights:
Each year, our council hosts a recognition dinner for the previous year's Grand Knight. This year, it was held October 2nd at the Dublin Fishery restaurant. Having been last year's Grand Knigt, of course, I was the honoree, along with my wife Audrey.

I would like to thank all who attended, and all those who worked so hard to make this a most memorable evening, especially PGK Rich garcia and his lovely wife Lupe ; PGK Dave Melander for his musical attributes; present Grand Knight Ron Silva for a scrumptious dinner; and Father Tony Herrera for his spiritual enlightenment for the evening.

Of course, we know that one person does not keep a council going, so I consider this celebration a recognition of the entire council for all that we do to help our Church, our community, and those less fortunate. For all of you who helped with your time and efforts throughout this past year, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

All our membership must get involved and help wherever they can. We need all of you. I believe the following prayer best explains why we are all knights:

Lord God, Creator,
You have not made me to live alone.
You have not formed me to live apart from others.
You have placed me in society,
into the hands and lives of those around me.
Let me hear your call to grow
in the midst of society.
Let me work with others to build a world
where all your children
might live in peace and prosperity.
Allow me to appreciate that my way to you
is not a solitary march
but a family journey home.
