Grand Knight's Message
Worthy Brothers of Council 6043,
This Advent, it’s my personal prayer and focus to be present in relationships that are meaningful. I once texted a good friend, “We need to get together and spend some time. We see each other in passing, chat a little at church, but haven’t made time to sit down and be.” The Advent season is when we Knights watch, hope & serve. We remain vigilant to the happenings of the Season. We hope that the next year will not disappoint. And we double-down on our oaths to serve the One who came to save us. Be mindful of presence, more so than minding presents.
Much gratefulness goes to those who served in the various November events: Veteran’s Day Rosary at the Cemetery, The Silva Coat Drive, First Sunday Donut Social, Thanksgiving Basket deliveries, 40 Days for Life, Exemplification Ceremony and the Midway fraternal event. I wish that I could mention everyone by name, but I would inadvertently omit someone. Please accept the Council's sincere appreciation for all your efforts.
The month of December offers opportunities to serve the Council and the Parish. The following events need various skill sets to plan and execute: Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest, Xmas Masses Parking Crew, CCOP building repairs, Breakfast with Santa, and Giving Tree drivers. And last – but not least – kudos go to The Hewitt’s for hosting the traditional Council Xmas Party at their home.
Let’s pray for each other as we enter this blessed Advent Season. We watch and wait and serve in the name of the One who was born of the Virgin. December will get busy as we prepare for the Christmas Season. Let’s try to not get lost in the busyness and focus to the importance of family and time together. Like a New Year’s resolution, we can make an Advent commitment to focus on bettering ourselves as the dawn of a new Church year begins.
O come, o come, Emmanuel. Be with us, Lord.
