Grand Knight's Message
It was a couple of years ago when I was just beginning as the Warden when Brother Lou Santero came up to me and said, "You know, you will be in line to be the Grand Knight." I had not really given it much thought until that moment, but my immediate response was "Why, yes I will". Well, the time has flown by and here I am.
PGK Jom Sicat and the rest of the team have prepared me well for the year but the challenges of having a virtual council still remain. The road is rough right now for all of us but we should find comfort in knowing we have a council filled with Brothers who have big hearts and who are willing to help any Brother in need. We all thought (hoped) the pandemic was waning until recently. It is uncertain when the shelter-in-place order will be lifted and when we can resume council meetings and dinners together back at St. Augustine. Did anyone know what Zoom was 6 months ago?
As we head in to the new Columbian year, our "business as usual" has been thrown out the window and we are thinking of creative ways our council can evolve. It is more important than ever that we keep our council alive and vibrant. We should all be encouraged by the efforts of so many of you who have stepped up to help our parish and pastor these past few months with your time and flexibility during difficult times. I am seeing new Brothers jump right in as well.
Here's to a great new year and I ask for your prayers of support.
