Grand Knight's Message
Dear Brother Knights,
Welcome to the new Columbian Year 2021-2022! We have so much to look forward to doing! Of greatest importance is to continue to serve our pastor and church, as well as our community within and outside of the parish. As we slowly transition away from the rules imposed to help control the spread of the pandemic, it will be important for each of you to find in yourself how you can help our council. No better time to get reinvolved!
I thank PGK SK Mike Martin for his leadership of the council this past Columbian Year. The whole year was of online meetings, planning sessions, etc. But he kept our Council on target to complete our mission- to help our pastor, church and community. He was constantly communicating with Fr. Mark and Brother Michael Harmon, the CCOP Operations Manager, to assist in logistics of organizing COVID19-compliant Sacramental rites and Mass; he worked with several Knights to fundraise and offer takeout style dinners to replace our normal Festa Italiana and Crab Feed, of which our entire council can be proud. In all, we donated $35,000 to charities. And it was your work, Brother Knights, which made our this last Columbian Year such a success.
I look forward to a busy and fruitful new Columbian Year! My theme for the year is Leadership Encourages Brotherhood: while we have Leaders, nobody is a boss, even me. A leader leads by encouraging others and working side-by-side with them. Leaders also look to encourage leadership in fellow Brothers. And having new leaders develop is what will make our council strong year after year. We are Brothers, and must encourage Catholic men they know to become Knights, as well as participate ourselves in our activities and meetings. This will make our Council stronger, more active and give our Catholic community the support they need.
I ask for your prayers, your support and your participation in this new Columbian Year. May our Lord guide us to be the men, the husbands, the fathers and the Knights we are meant to be!
