Grand Knight's Message
This will be my last newsletter article to you all as the Council’s Grand Knight. Instead of becoming a PGK in July, I will assume the title of PZGK or Past Zoom Grand Knight. This past Columbian year was not what we all expected but who did? In looking back, I truly believe our council performed amazingly well under the ever -changing Covid circumstances. The fraternity we shared in planning events, coffee catchups, and membership meetings, albeit via Zoom, kept the council together. Many of us did not know what a Zoom was a year ago and some would argue they still don’t know how to use it.... “Ummmmm, we can’t hear you, you are still on mute”.
Some of the highlights of the past year for me was our collective ability to get creative with fundraisers. Downtown restaurant fundraisers and drive through Festa and Crab feeds provided us with the ability to continue the tradition of supporting local charities. This year, through these unprecedented efforts, we will be able to donate $25,000.
As Fr. Mark navigated new ways to support the needs of CCOP, he called upon the Knights to assist with directing communion parking and to coordinate drive through reconciliation services. In addition, we helped with the logistics of streaming masses on- line. Our council had to quickly figure out how to provide the needed support and we did. This could not have happened without the help of all of you. Your dedication and commitment to supporting our church and each other has been tremendous.
It has been my honor to humbly serve you all and the parish. May God bless you and our council as our world begins to open up again. We should be optimistic for this coming Columbian year with our new officers, we are in good hands.
